Punch the Devil in the Face
The devil hates your marriage.
He wants your marriage to fail.
He will use any opportunity he can to drive a wedge between you, your spouse, and the Lord.
Resentment, bitterness, jealousy, spite, laziness, selfishness… all of us can attest to these dangerous sins creeping in our marriage. If we're not careful, they can destroy us.
But fear not.
Our marriage, being the sacrament that it is, has a direct link to an outpouring of graces to combat the evil one and remain a strong light of God's loving presence in this world.
The graces you need are available to you to work that “marriage muscle” and stay strong in the battle.
Here's a few powerful ways you can give the devil a good gut-punch with your marriage and keep it strong in the Lord:
Do an act of service for your spouse with joy
Pray the Rosary together
Go on a date
Uplift your spouse with a word of encouragement
Spend time in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
Co-create (make a baby!)
Go to confession
Be intimate
Become spiritual mother/father through mentorship and evangelization
Read Scripture together
Attend Mass
Pray over each other
Put the phones down and look each other in the eye
Dream together
These are just a few. Saying YES to your marriage vows, loving and honouring each other ALL THE DAYS (read: EACH DAY) is how we win this battle, with the graces Christ has won for us. With Him, you can have a lifelong, holy marriage. Become saints through your marriage vocation.
